About Us

Who says things don't change much in small towns? For me, it has as my husband, Michael has now become very ill. He is in hospice care, and will never come home again. As I hope you understand it has set me back quite a bit in keeping my shoppe current. I had so many plans for new holiday items, but Im afraid that will probably be next year now. Please take a moment and say a prayer for us. thank you

I started crafting many years ago, but I discovered candle making about 5 years ago. Then, I discovered soap making, Im afraid Im hooked. I do make all my own soaps using the cold pressed method, and completely natural. There is nothing in my soaps, or any bath and body item that is not natural. The same with my candles. I use either soy wax alone, or a mix of soy and beeswax. I use either cotton or hemp wicks depending on the candle. Hemp burns hotter, so it depends upon the candle applicatiion which I use.

I have also found, and so have alot of you, that the "melts" or "tarts" are very popular. It depends on your tastes, but alot of you life the electric warmers or the "old-fashioned" of us like the ceremic warmers that use a tealight underneath. I will be carrying both, for right not, I only have the ceremic warmers. I also carry the electic warmer that you can put a jar candle on and have it melt very slowly, this will amaze you at the scent. And it lasts such a long time. I for one, have never timed them, I guess Im just too lazy. But, they do last you for quite awhile. So, that's my trip down the candle lane. There is no such thing as a "stupid" question, so if you ever have anything you need to ask, just go ahead an email me. I promise not to laugh. Ive asked many a "stupid" one in my life, and it's saved me alot of work.

My soaps are something I have only really gotten into the past year or so. I do use the cold processed method, I just like it better. I, of course, like everyone else started out with melt and pour. That didn't last long. I just didn't like the way they came out. Doesn't mean there is anything wrong with that method, for one if you have small children in your home, it's probably preferrably, because you don't want to be handling lye with little ones around. It's really all a matter of taste, and what you like or expect the result to be. Frankly, Ive tried others melt and pour, and they have been wonderful. You just can't always tell. The thing Ive tried to do recently is make some really strange combos and you know they come out pretty nice. Some are disasters, as with anything you make, but you'd be surprised sometimes that say cucumber and melon may sound strange, but is wonderfully refreshing on a hot, sticky day. Very cool and the scent is great!

I guess the last thing Id like to tell you about that I do on my own is blending my own potpourri and fixins. Again, it can get as simple as two or three botanicals and go up to any amount or as fancy as you'd like. Here is where I can be flexible if you'd like a special order. Tell me what your favorite scent is. Now, again I can order scents from my supplier and get them within a few days. So, don't think a special order will keep your order from getting to you for weeks on end. That won't happen. At the most, it would perhaps take me a week to get a special order to you. I carry many scents (listed under fragrances) and if I don't carry an oil you would really like, just let me know. I have even mixed two or three scents together to get the desired affect. I have my standard ones that are made up to order quickly, I make very little, except for soaps or perhaps a special kind of candle up ahead of time. I try to get things to you as fresh as possible. Who wants a votive say that's been lying around for months and months. I know I don't. So...that's about it...I think. Always remember the "stupid" question rule...there isn't any!!! Besides who will know besides you and me...right? I believe customer service is of the utmost number one thing I can give you providing you with whatever it is you would like. If I don't like it, no one will like it, so it is tossed. Or I use it myself, as with soap. Just because it looks wierd, doesn't mean it cannot be used by me...besides Im not that picky...hehe! (Oh! yes I am, folks)
